PingPing Song

PDPC, Erasmus MC

PhD candidate

My name is PingPing Song. I am a PhD candidate in department of Public Health, Erasmus MC, and part of the PDPC research project Frontrunner 4: Towards social and urban resilience. I work on pandemic preparedness in terms of COVID-19 transmission through social networks. We aim to quantify the geographical connectivity for colleagues, students, families etc., and subsequently develop a mathematical transmission model to simulate scenarios where regional interventions can be effective. I have a background on Applied Mathematics. I have a passion on applying mathematical or simulation models to mimic the real world for timely and evidence-based decision-making in future pandemics. Within PDPC, I enjoy how different projects work together to contribute to the overarching aim on pandemic and disaster control within PDPC, and how people collaborate closely in exchanging ideas, expertise and provide peer-feedback on individual work. I wish to make a mark in both academic contributions and societal impacts as a junior researcher in the upcoming years.
