My name is Julien Magana; I am currently doing my PhD at TU Delft and work with the PDPC in Frontrunner 3: Pandemic lessons for flood disaster preparedness, focusing on patient logistics during disasters. My background is in supply chain management, transport and logistics, and I contribute to the goals of the PDPC because I believe to bring innovative ideas and a social science dimension to our technical work.

Together with the colleagues from my frontrunner, we are developing a simulation game to simulate a flood response scenario, focusing on health outcomes. This serious game should prepare administrators and people in the field to make effective decisions during flood-related crises.

I’m motivated to be part of the PDPC because of its community and its commitment to bring together researchers from different fields. This pushes us to learn from one another and work together beyond the boundaries of our methods and disciplines. I expect to accomplish strong connections and to keep exchanging on the various topics that the PDPC works on, working together, understanding each other and also understanding the limits we are facing as researchers but also as people!
