Healthy Start Ambition Lead, Assistant Professor Forensic and Legal Psychology
Reshmi Marhe is Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology with a specialization in forensic psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Within Healthy Start, she serves as Ambition Lead for ambition 5 about young people facing multiple challenges related to delinquency and addiction, with an emphasis on individualized approaches and technological support.
Her research focuses on risk factors, and the underlying mechanisms of antisocial behaviour and substance use in youth. She studies cognitive control, physical activity, biological processes and neural functions, and how these relate to aggression, recidivism, and behavioural problems. This includes, for example, meta-analyses on the effectiveness of physical activity as an intervention, and neurobiological studies among youth with multiple problems.
Within Healthy Start, Reshmi works closely with young people and societal partners to design scientifically grounded interventions. One example is a smartphone app that tracks individual patterns of risk behaviour and emotions, providing targeted support such as breathing exercises or direct help from a professional at the right moment.
