Erasmus University Rotterdam

Healthy Start Fellow

Ilse van de Groep is a postdoctoral researcher within the SYNC Lab at Erasmus University Rotterdam, affiliated with the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences. As a Healthy Start Fellow, she studies the behavioral and neural development of antisocial behavior in young adults, focusing in particular on mechanisms of self-concept, reward learning, social evaluation, and impulse control.

Ilse shares her passion not only in the lab but also beyond academia: she uses creative communication methods such as blogging, workshops, e-magazines, and visual media to make her research insights accessible to a broad audience.

Within Healthy Start, Ilse translates scientific insights into mechanisms of antisocial behavior into interventions and strategies that motivate young people to pursue their own goals. She does this by combining research with co-creation alongside youth and societal partners.
