6 November Symposium on Climate Adaptation and Infectious Diseases
📅 6 November 2025
📍Rotterdam
Are you curious about potential risks and effects of climate adaptation on health, such as mosquito-borne infectious diseases? Would you like to engage with experts from different disciplines on how health plays a role in shaping our living environment? Then be sure to mark the Symposium on Climate Adaptation and Infectious Diseases in your calendar. This symposium will take place on 6 November and is organized within the ClimateHUB project, a collaboration between Erasmus MC, Erasmus University, Leiden University and TU Delft, and linked to the PDPC and Resilient Delta.
This symposium will feature presentations from both researchers and policymakers and will focus on research about climate adaptation, infectious diseases and vectors in South Holland. Together, we will discuss current scientific and societal issues, such as:
- How big is the risk of mosquitoes in underground water buffers?
- Are negative health effects sufficiently considered in urban development?
- What are the effects of climate change and changing landscape management (Eendragtspolder) on the ecology of mosquitoes, birds, and viruses, and could this contribute to the transmission of infectious diseases into urban areas?
- And how can we improve collaboration between experts in climate adaptation and health?
This afternoon offers an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge, exchange experiences, and build new connections.
Are you a researcher, policymaker, process manager, administrator, engineer, architect, public health worker, advisor, decision-maker, or simply interested in climate adaptation and health? Then you are warmly invited to this symposium!
